Policies

Our policies help keep every pet safe, healthy, and well cared for during their stay.

Health & Admission Requirements

At Brook Farm Veterinary Center, your pet’s health, safety, and comfort are our top priorities. Our boarding services are supervised by veterinary professionals so you can feel confident your pet is in good hands.

To help keep all pets safe, every boarding guest must:

  • Be current on required vaccinations
  • Be free of fleas, ticks, and other internal or external parasites
  • Have had no known exposure to contagious illness within 30 days of boarding

Owners must let us know about any medical conditions, recent illness, medications, or behavioral concerns before check-in.

For the safety of our staff and other pets, we may decline admission for any animal that appears ill, injured, or unsafe to handle. If parasites are found during your pet’s stay, treatment will be provided at the owner’s expense.

Vaccination Requirements

Dogs

  • Canine Influenza
  • Bordetella
  • Distemper/Parvo
  • Rabies
  • Fecal exam

Cats

  • Distemper
  • Rabies
  • Fecal exam

Proof of vaccination is required before boarding. Titer testing is accepted for most vaccines, except rabies. Health certificates may also be required when applicable.

Health

Even vaccinated pets can occasionally become ill when exposed to other animals. By boarding with us, you acknowledge that your pet will be around other pets and that communicable disease exposure is an inherent risk of boarding. Any treatment related to illness during or after boarding remains the owner’s responsibility.

If your pet becomes sick or needs medical attention while staying with us, our veterinary team may provide appropriate care based on the attending veterinarian’s judgment.

By boarding your pet with us, you authorize Brook Farm Veterinary Center to:

  • Provide necessary medical care
  • Begin treatment in urgent or critical situations
  • Attempt to contact you, understanding that treatment may begin before contact is made if needed

Owners are financially responsible for all services and treatments provided during the stay. Payment is due at discharge.

In the event of an emergency, you authorize our team to provide immediate care, including medications, emergency treatment, and life-saving procedures when medically appropriate.

If we cannot reach you or your emergency contact right away, decisions will be made based on veterinary judgment and your pet’s best interests. Owners remain responsible for all emergency charges.

Feeding

We provide a high-quality Purina diet for boarding pets. If your pet requires a special diet, owner-provided food may be accommodated when possible.

If additional food must be supplied by our facility due to missing or insufficient food from home, extra charges may apply.

Monitoring

Boarding pets are monitored daily for:

  • Appetite
  • Elimination
  • Behavior and activity
  • Signs of stress or illness

If concerns arise, treatment or special care may be provided at the veterinarian’s discretion. Additional fees may apply for special handling, behavioral concerns, or unexpected care needs.

Belongings

We recommend using facility-provided bedding and toys. If you bring personal items from home, please note that they may become damaged, soiled, or lost during your pet’s stay.

For safety reasons, some items are not permitted, including rawhide and battery-operated toys.

Overnight Care

Brook Farm Veterinary Center is not staffed overnight, and pets may be unattended during those hours.
